Principals Message

WELCOME BACK

After a mixed break weather wise and with some restrictions in place, I trust you all enjoyed your time with your children over the last holiday break. I always feel good about being back to school after a break because the children always come back so energised and full of stories. It will be a busy term as usual with some of the highlights including an athletics carnival (13 August - COVID permitting), Regional Debating, and dancing for sport.

We welcome the Sufa family to our school community with Amerti in Year 1 and Meti in Year 4. I am sure they will have a very enjoyable and successful time at OLV.

We are looking forward to another successful term.

COVID UPDATE

Will it ever go away? Just when we thought we might get back into our routines, once again we have been hit with a new set of restrictions and regulations.

It has been very much appreciated that parents have taken on a new dismissal routine. It is appreciated that everyone is staying calm, patient and aware of the needs of others. Remember to line up in class order if possible -- Kinder & siblings, Yr 1 & siblings, Yr 2 & siblings at the bottom Lovell Pde gate - all primary and older siblings via the top gate on Lovell Pde. Bus via Sandgate Rd gate. If you would rather pick up from Sandgate Rd, that's fine, but please let all your children know and get them to let their teacher know also.

Teachers have been asked not to park on the school side of Lovell Pde, so there should be more room for parents to park there. Remember, drop off should be as quick as possible and move to the bottom of the zone (where the little ramp in the footpath is, just before the Disabled Parking zone). If you need to get out of the car, and bring the children to the gate, then parents are asked to park in the church car park.

THANKYOU :)

ASPIRE

We should feel sorry for Isla in Year 5 who has been hard at work rehearsing for her ASPIRE performance. Our year 5/6 class were set to watch the performance of the MASKED DJ next week when COVID put the mockers on the show. Everyone involved with APSIRE must be so disappointed. There is light at the end of the tunnel as plans are being made to put on the show towards the end of the year.

STAFF CHANGES

There are few changes to our staff makeup for the beginning of this term. Miss Gallagher has moved on to sunny QLD and her role in Year 5/6 has been taken on by Miss Payton who has also taken on part of the EAL'D load along with Mrs Bourne. From Week 4 we will be welcoming back Mrs Hunt who has been on leave raising her family  for the last couple of years. She will be providing teacher relief for RFF once a fortnight in each class.

PUPIL FREE DAYS

Just a reminder that Monday 9 August and Monday 6 September will be Pupil Free Days. The school will be closed on these days.
