TELL THEM FROM ME

survey.jfifThanks to all the parents that have been logging in an completing the Tell Them From Me survey. It is really important that we get the views.  To make it just that little bit easier for you to provide your feedback, in addition to the link you would have received on Compass, you will see some posters and flyers around the school that have QR code on them which you can scan using your phone and will take you straight to the survey.

Next Thursday we will be seeking the views to the children in Year 4-6, via an online TTFM Survey. It is important that they have say on what affects them.  Parents are able to have their children OPT OUT of this activity by sending an email to admin@shortland.catholic.edu.au

ATTENDANCE

attendance.jfif

One of the legal obligations parents have, is to ensure their children attend school by the age of 6. With this obligation is the responsibility of attending on regular basis and arriving on time. Teachers are required to note late arrivals and this is recorded. Parents who regularly arrive after the bell do their children a great disservice as their child misses important learning.

Let’s look at the Maths – even if only 10mins late x 5days x 10weeks = 500 mins of lost learning time each term – that’s 2 whole days per term or 8 days over the year.

I can fully understand the odd occasion when things are hectic in the morning, but there is a growing number of children wandering into school after the assembly bells. Please ensure your child is ready for school to start the day at 8:50am. – the early bell at 8:45am is to get them organised, toileted and warmed up for the morning assembly which begins at 8:50am.

SEMESTER 1 REPORTS

school_report.jfifIt is an important time for children and teachers at the moment as they finalise assessment tasks and prepare reports for parents. Being at school during this time is very important. The reports will be released to parents on FRIDAY 28 JUNE – WEEK 9.

On Friday 5 JULY (Week 10) the  children will talk with their teachers and parents in a 3-way conversation about their progress, their success and their challenges. Booking for these chats will be available soon via compass.

SCHOOL MUSIC PRESENTATION

music2.png

Things are rolling along in preparation for our musical journey through the decades. Children have been auditioning for parts and preparing dances to WOW the community. So, lock in THURSDAY 27 JUNE at 6:30pm for this wonderful extravaganza. Stay tuned for more info over the coming weeks. We are asking for a gold coin donation at the door to cover some of the costs.

Children have been asked to bring a long sleeve black T-Shirt or Skivvy to be screen printed as part of their costume. These can be cheaply purchased from Big W. Members from the ASPIRE will be coming to school to screen print them for the occasion. Please send them into school with your child’s name attached ASAP.
