WE MADE IT!!!
Well!! Wasn't that an interesting year. But we made it to the end without too many injuries along the way. COVID certainly tested our mettle and our resourcefulness. Teachers learnt very quickly, and successfully, how to deliver their programs in different modes. Technology has became a great helper and learning from home was an eye opener for all. Thak you everyone for your patience, support and encouragement for each other during this year.
We hope that 2021 will be a better year in terms of contact in the school. We will be able to have our Extrenal Providers (OT's, ST's etc)back, P&F meetings and our piano and dance teachers. Parental access to assemblies and whole school activities will still be limited at this stage, but we are hoping that will change during the holidays with new announcements. We will keep you posted.
Please enjoy the Christmas break. Don't forget to find time to celebrate in the church and keep those less fortunate in your minds during this time.
You might find this version of the classic Christmas hymn a peaceful way to start the holidays with your children.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE :)
FAREWELL YEAR 6
Yesterday we celebrated Mass for only the second time since the COVID lockdown to farewell the Year 6 students as they graduate from Primary School. It was a wonderful celebration involving the whole school. We were fortunate enough to allow some parents into the school to celebrate with us also.
As I said yesterday after Mass,
I leave you with this thought. It is my favourite Bible reference and it comes from the Old Testament of Micah who was a prophet for the ancient kings of Judah. He tells us to
“ act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8)
So my wish for you all is that you learn to be people of integrity and honesty, to do unto others as you would have them do unto you, with forgiveness and gentleness, and to always remember that when you achieve something, do it with humility and know God walks with you in all your difficult times.
Farewell to Olivia, Maria, Lachlan, Bailey, Ari, Logan, Ewan, Deacon, Sam & Jack -- don't be strangers.

Term 3 Fees
Kindergarten Enrolment
Family Discount Forms
A purple Family Discount Form was sent home in Week 3 for parents to complete in preparation for 2021 school fees. This is an important form that we then use to calculate the fees for the coming year. It is vital that all parents complete this form and indicate if we need to apply a family discount (including siblings across both primary and high schools within the Catholic system), Health Care Card discount and the optional contribution to the Diocesan Pastoral Care program.
This form must be completed for all families including if only one child is in the Catholic Diocease.
Forms are now OVERDUE. This form helps our billing process for 2021. Thank you to all the families who have already returned their form.
I would like to wish everyone a very Merry and safe Christmas and a Happy New Year. I am looking forward to seeing everyone back at school in January 2021.
Kindergarten
Kinder Science unit for Term 4 was “MATERIALS- WHERE FROM AND WHAT FOR”. We found out that objects are made of different materials (wood, rubber, metal, plastic, glass, cardboard) that have observable properties (hard, soft, heavy, light, stretchy, stiff).
The Assessment task for the unit was to design and produce a bridge.
The students were assessed on how they:
-Developed a plan to produce a bridge.
-Followed their design to construct the bridge.
-Selected appropriate materials to construct the bridge.
-Developed a solution to get a matchbox car across the bridge.
To see them in action, click on the link below. They were totally engaged and immersed in this project and thanks to your generosity, we had plenty of materials to choose from.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Kinder parents for your support and assistance throughout 2020. You have contributed immensely to your child’s learning through the completion of homework tasks, listening to your child read and most significantly, the home learning you completed during Covid - 19 restrictions.
Have a happy and safe Christmas and New Year.
Mrs Bradley
Year 1
Well, what a year it's been! Through it all, it has been the beautiful children of Year 1 who have stayed consistently optimistic and buoyed us, their teachers, with their smiles and positive attitude when facing the challenges of 2020. How inspirational you all are! We couldn't be more proud of you and your learning journey this year.
We have had a lovely last fortnight spent together. Mrs Hingston called in last week to introduce us to her gorgeous son, Cooper. We all got to ask her lots of questions about how Cooper has been growing and changing since he was born on 30th September.
We've also been enjoying some Christmas craft and carol singing too recently. Look at our colourful watercolour paintings of the Nativity! A reminder to us, amidst all the excitement of Santa, that Jesus is the reason for this Christmas season.
On behalf of Miss Payton, Mrs Hingston and myself, we wish all the Year 1 children and their families a relaxing and peaceful Christmas, and thank you for your support this year. We can't wait to hear all about your holiday adventures and to see how much you've grown when we return in 2021, Year 1! Merry Christmas!
Year 2
Year 2 have had some great fun during the last 2 weeks with doing some joint activities with Year 5.
They would like to thank all the Year 5 students for helping them “bump up” their narratives. It was amazing what their final product looked like.
This week Year 5 and Year 2 worked on creating their own Christmas jingles which you can view on our school Facebook page.
I would like to thank Year 2 for a wonderful year and wish everyone a Merry and safe Christmas and New Year.
Regards,
Patty Dunn
Year 3
It has been a busy couple of weeks in Year 3 - finishing units of work, tidying and cleaning desks and sorting through equipment. It is hard to believe that we have reached the end of the 2020 school year. Miss Morris has had a wonderful year with her class and wants to say THANK YOU to all Year 3 students for their great efforts throughout the year.
Everyone in Year 3 would like to wish the whole OLV community a very happy Christmas and a safe and restful holiday.
‘We wish you a Merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!!’
Year 4
We cannot believe that our time in Year 4 has come to an end. It has been a fantastic year and we have had so much fun together.
Mrs Carroll feels very lucky to have had such a beautiful class of friendly, positive and happy children who have been so enthusiastic and interested in doing their best all year. Despite Covid-19 interrupting our year, everyone has made wonderful progress and has shown great commitment to their learning. Well done, Year 4!
We are very much looking forward to being Buddies in 2021 and starting our journey into the Senior Primary classes.
We would like to wish all the students, staff and families of OLV, a very Merry Christmas. Have a wonderful holiday time with family and friends and stay safe!
